Citizens’ Demand Permanent Shutdown of Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station

May 19, 2013

Mr. John Dent
Vice President and Site Vice President
Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc.
Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station
600 Rocky Hill Road
Plymouth, MA 02360-5508

Dear Mr. Dent,

Today we deliver this letter to demand that Entergy Nuclear keep Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station closed due to lessons learned from Fukushima. We, the citizens, reject the dangerous threat the continued operation of the nuclear reactor posses to our families and property. We refuse to be part of a relocation plan in the event of a severe nuclear accident that would have a catastrophic consequence on our communities. Rather than remove the population, we call for the removal of the threat-Close Pilgrim.

Both Entergy and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission have the information to make an informed decision for public health and safety considering that the GE Mark l Boiling Water Reactor containment will not contain in a severe accident, and like Fukushima, an accident would devastate the region. To allow the continued operation of the Pilgrim reactor is an imminent threat to us all.

WE ARE HERE TO INDICT ENTERGY NUCLEAR AND ITʼS PILGRIM FACILITY AND THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION FOR CRIMINAL NEGLIGENCE FOR ENDANGERING THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF ALL LIVING THINGS IN NEW ENGLAND.

Sincerely,
Cape Downwinders
