People and Groups Calling for Pilgrim Closure – a scorecard

This incomplete list illustrates that the NRC has little if any interest in the will of the people.

On March 21, 2017, many state legislators publicly called upon Entergy and the NRC not to refuel Pilgrim Nuclear so that the substandard reactor would be permanently closed by June of 2017.

Cape and Islands Senator Julian Cyr said, “I call on the Nuclear Regulatory Commission unequivocally to shut Pilgrim down now. That means now, that means today.”

The Cape and Islands have repeatedly spoken at the ballot box:
“We refuse to be radiation refugees!”

Largely because the safety of Cape & Islands residents and visitors cannot be assured, the following have all called for the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station to be permanently closed. The position of some, notably former Governor Patrick, Congressman Keating, and the Barnstable County Commissioners, is (or was) conditional, while many others simply want it closed NOW.
